TBS DigiCon6 Awards is an annual competition held each fall, which seeks and recognizes talented creators throughout Asia (Japan, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand: 13th TBS DigiCon6) and rewards them for their outstanding works. Furthermore, DigiCon6 provides these creators with opportunities to expand their creative ground by supporting their innovative minds and activities year-round.
The top ten films in the Singapore leg were screened at the awards ceremony – and Spycat was one of them!
We would like to thank the audience for the awesome response and support you gave Spycat yesterday… the atmosphere was absolutely electrifying! Thank you so much for letting us tickle your funny bones. You guys are definitely, hands down, the best audience we’ve had yet!
Spycat eventually picked up the second prize in the student category, which netted us a cash prize of SGD1000 as well as a Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch tablet . We were ranked third overall, and as one of the top 5 animation films at DigiCon6 Singapore, Spycat will be representing Singapore at the grand finals in Tokyo next month!
Here’s a YouTube clip of us receiving our award for Spycat, courtesy of Tan Pang Ren. His short film, Drunken Moon, won the first prize in the open category. Drunken Moon was created by Raymond Teo, Tan Pang Ren & Malcolm Qwah – our seniors from NTU!
The first prize winners of both the open and student categories get an invitation to the grand finals in Tokyo. As such, it was a pleasant surprise when it was announced that Singaporean telecommunications company Starhub would sponsor one more group to go.
No prizes for guessing who!
We would like to thank Starhub for believing in Spycat and we’re thrilled to bits at being given the opportunity to go to Tokyo!
To all the Spycat fans, keep following us on WordPress or Facebook because we’ve got even more news coming your way. Thank you so much!
